Family Council

Our Family Council is for every person who is related to a resident or is a friend of a resident at St. Peter’s Residence.

We meet on the 4th Thursday of every month, September to June, 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., Family Dining Room. Refreshments provided.

The main purpose of St. Peter’s Family Council is to be a partner in helping to improve the quality of life of residents  and to give families a voice in decisions that affect them and their loved ones who live at St. Peter’s Residence.

Our Family Council tries to find ways to provide:

  • Support for families
  • Learning and information
  • Discussion and action on concerns
  • Communication with Residence managers and families and friends of loved ones

A Family Council can make a difference in the quality of life of every resident. We can make cost-saving suggestions to management. We can highlight important issues like oral hygiene, safety, and residence care. We do not take the place of staff. We act as a sounding board for new ideas and can make suggestions for improved quality of life for our loved ones.

At Family Council meetings we help each other, through staff representatives, to understand how the system operates, the roles and responsibilities of staff members and the day-to-day challenges at St. Peter’s.
