Hello staff, family and friends of St. Peter’s Residence at Chedoke (St. Peter’s),
We are so pleased to write and share some exciting news with all of you today!
As you may know, over a year ago, St. Peter’s had submitted an application to the Ministry of Long Term Care (MLTC) to support the need for additional long-term care beds in our community. We are elated to advise you that we received news today that the project has received approval to move on to the next stage of negotiations with the ministry, and we are that much closer to adding 64 news beds to our home!
This exciting proposal for additional beds has been designed with the care of seniors in mind and has particular focus on design elements that incorporate the unique needs of those living with dementia. This includes features such as smaller unit sizes, recreational spaces and private occupancy rooms. Parking, storage and other features have also been included in order to ensure that the new addition would meet the needs of our residents, families, staff and our community for years to come. The new addition will be attached to the existing building structure in order to ensure that we can seamlessly integrate the new beds with the current home.
We look forward to partnering with the MLTC, the City of Hamilton and various other community partners as we advance our plans for this project. We also recognize that we will need the input and support of all stakeholder groups in order for this initiative to be a success and we are excited about this opportunity for additional collaboration with our residents, families and staff.
We will be sure to communicate with you all regularly as we take next steps towards this needed LTC development for the Hamilton community. Please feel welcome to reach out to Jenn, Renee or Steve with any questions.
Best regards,
